Black History Month & Romance: Day 5

My first novel was published in 1995, and kick-started my still-popular family series. I became the first African-American author to publish with Silhouette Desire, and am also the first black romance author to hit the USA Today best-seller list. Since then, I have introduced many other beloved families to my books, and over the course of my career, I have won the Romantic Times Career Achievement Award and four of my books have been nominated for Romantic Times Reviewer’s Choice. Who am I?

Dora’s in the know! Brenda Jackson’s first Silhouette Desire, Delaney’s Desert Sheikh, a hard to find, and perinnially sought after novel, that continues to delight to this day. That book, along with her popular Madaris family series, helped to propel her to the USA Today best-seller list–most recently with her 2007 title, Slow Burn.
